Queen Seondeok Short Read

Queen Seondeok was Queen regnant of Silla, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea. She is also ignored in Asian history classes and world history classes (at least here in the US) and that needs to be corrected.

Queen Seondeok lived from c. 595-610 – 647 and ruled Silla for 15 years. She is remembered for being wise, tempered, and an academic. She encouraged learning and building projects throughout her kingdom.

The short read in my TpT store includes a 489 word short read with 2 pages of summary. The summaries are Common Core-aligned and also focus on the historical thinking skills chronology and historical causation.

The more we exclude women from history classes and curriculum the more we tend to think that women played no role throughout history. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Women have ruled countries and played major roles in nation building but their accomplishments are always overlooked or purposefully ignored. Don’t continue that. Add more women to your history classes.
