Pennsylvania geography is too often ignored by teachers because it isn’t included in textbooks. This doesn’t have to be the case for you. Here are three of my TPT resources that focus exclusively on Pennsylvania geography and are built for elementary students.
Pennsylvania Geography Workbook
This resource focues on PA’s physical geography. This print-and-go resource is a 10-page workbook and includes a variety of activities that help keep your students attention. The pages have many illustrations and touches on the variety of PA’s geography such as forests, state parks, mountains, and rivers.
My favorite three pages focus on Pennsylvania’s weather. The diverse weather patterns are important for understanding the state and activities.
Students will work with maps and become more comfortable with Pennsylvania’s shape and city locations. There is one page that needs to be projected on your whiteboard or smartboard but otherwise, the workbook is entirely independent if you choose.
The workbook was created using PA SAS for grades 1 – 3 and would be great for ESL students.

Pennsylvania Regional Geography
After your students learn about PA’s physical geography, they should begin learning the regional geography. It’s important to understand how most Pennsylvanians talk about the state as well as who our neighbors are.
Moving on from cardinal directions which are covered in the Pennsylvania Geography workbook, students learn ordinal directions. Ordinal directions are more in line with how we talk about the state and they are often skipped by teachers.
Some pages need to be projected on your whiteboard or smartboard.
Some pages have various answers based on where you live. Teachers in Erie will have different answers from those in Harrisburg. I thought it was important to get students thinking about their state based on where they live.
This resource is intended for students in grades 2 – 5 and for those who have had some PA geography instruction.

This is a Google Classroom™ only resource and makes a great addition to a teacher’s supply of digital resources. We do live in PA after all. Snow days are bound to happen and if you have a virtual learning day, this resource is perfect.
This resource includes short reads and images from some of PA’s best/most important/most interesting landmarks from around the state.
I made an effort to include landmarks from around the state and not just include Philadelphia or Pittsburgh landmarks. In order to keep the resource at a reasonable size I also had to edit some landmarks out. I decided it was important to celebrate the entire state and give students a look at other places.
This resource is listed as Not Grade Specific but it was intended for elementary students.

These resources can be purchased from my TPT individually or you can buy the bundle and save 30%.
